# Sitabhog-Mihidana: The siblings of Burdwan

##### 🔴Sitabhog and Mihidana became famous all over India after the arrival of Lord Curzon in Burdwan. 

##### 🔴Burdwan is the birthplace of two desserts Sitabhog and Mihidana.

##### 🔴Sitabhog was made from Sitashol rice. Sitabhog is a popular dessert that looks like pulao with mini gulab jamun. The mini gulab jamuns are called the 'Nikhutis'.

##### 🔴Mihidana comprises two words, ‘Mihi’, which means fine and ‘Dana’, which means grain. Mihidana also found in 'Pagla Dashu' stories of Sukumar Roy.

⚪️At first he established a small sweet shop in Jorasanko, then after some years he opened a shop in Bagbazar.
 

⚪️The white round sweets he made became very famous.

# Litchi Kheer

### Ingredients:

♦️6 drops rose essence

♦️1 1/2 litre milk

♦️3 powdered green cardamom

♦️6 tablespoon sugar

♦️350 grams chopped litchi

♦️6-7 Cashew nuts

### Process:

♦️Place a saucepan over medium flame and heat milk in it. 

♦️Add ghee and green cardamom powder in it and stir well.

♦️Place the pan with milk over medium flame again and let it boil until it reduces to half its quantity. 

♦️Add sugar in it and give it a stir. 

♦️Let the sugar dissolve and sprinkle the rose essence in it. 

♦️Reduce the flame and let the milk boil over low flame.

## Jamun Raita

#### Ingredients:
🔵1/2 cup deseeded and finely chopped ripe black jamuns,

🔵1 cup curd,
Black salt to taste,

🔵1/2 tsp roasted cumin seeds (jeera) powder,

1 tsp sugar.

## Mango Lassi

Ingredients: 1 cup chilled and roughly chopped mangoes,
1 cup fresh curd,
1/2 cup cold milk, 
2tbspn sugar

Process: To make mango lassi, combine all the ingredients and blend in a mixing jar till it is smooth.

## Ripe Guava Chutney

Ingredients:
2 Guava, 2 Green Chillies, 1/3 cup Roasted Peanuts, 1 tablespoon Parsley leaves finely chopped, 2 cloves Garlic, 1 tablespoon Lemon juice, 1 teaspoon Jaggery, Salt, 1 tablespoon Oil 1 tablespoon White Urad Dal (Split), 3-4 Curry leaves

Process:
First peel the ripe guavas and cut them into large pieces. Take all pieces into microwave pan and add 1/3 cup of water and a pinch of salt into it.

Cook for 10 minutes into microwave and let them cool at room temperature.

Mash the guava pieces and remove the seeds form them by draining the mixture carefully.

In a mixer jar, add mashed guava, chillies, peanuts, finely chopped parsley, garlic, lemon juice, jaggery, salt and make a smooth paste of it.

Take a pan, heat the oil into it and add black gram split, curry leaves. Let them simmer. Add this tempering into the smooth paste.

The Ripe Guava Chutney is ready to serve.

Ingredients: 
3 Apples,
¾ cup Sugar,
4 tbsp Ghee,
6 Cashew nuts,
1 Cardamom,
1 pinch Nutmeg powder

Process:
Peel the skin of the apples. Chop into small pieces, eliminate the seeds.
Grind smoothly in a mixer.
In a kadai, add 1 tbsp ghee and fry broken cashew nuts in medium flame until golden and crisp. Set aside. Add ground apple, remaining ghee and keep cooking for 5 mins. It might splutter, so use a cover initially.
Once water is evaporated and gets thicker, add sugar. Mix well.
Continue cooking carefully, until you see ghee oozing out, doesn’t stick to the bottom.
Time to be careful, you will see whitish bubbles (frothy) forming at the bottom as you stir from bottom.
Continue cooking in medium flame until the whole mixture starts becoming frothy, pale. Add powdered cardamom, nutmeg and cashew nuts. Mix well and switch off the flame.

Watermelon Milkshake

Ingredients:
1 cup watermelon, pieces (seedless),
1/4 cup condensed sweetened milk,
1.5 cups water,
1/2 cup vanilla extract,
ice cubes

Process:
Add the watermelon pieces, condensed milk, water and vanilla extract in a food processer and beat well for a while. Serve the milkshake immediately with ice cubes.

Grape Juice

Ingredients:
2 cups grapes
Water
Ice cubes
1/4 cup Sugar
Mint leaves

Process:
Firstly, in a large vessel take 2 cups of grapes.
Further add a cup of water.
And get the grapes to boil.
Stir occasionally.
Further boil for 5 minutes or till grapes turn soft.
Mash the grapes slightly, and check if the grapes are cooked well.
Cool the mixture completely.
And mash with the potato masher or squeeze the pulp with your hand.
Filter the mixture and extract the grape juice.
Squeeze well to get enough pulp from the grape mixture.
Transfer the extracted grape juice to the large vessel.
Also add ¼ cup sugar and mix well.

Boil the syrup for 2 minutes.
And further turn off the flame and squeeze lemon juice.
Cool completely before storing the grape syrup.
Once cooled, transfer to the large glass jar and can store in refrigerator for atleast 6 months.
To prepare the grape juice, take ice cubes in glass jar.
Add in ¼ cup prepared grape syrup.
Also add 1 cup of water.
And add few chopped fresh grapes.
Mix well, adjust the concentration depending on your choice.
Finally, serve grape juice chilled garnished with a mint leaves.

It is the Botanical and Zoological garden built up by the King Bijoy Chand Mahatab in 1884.

UNESCO declared Nilgiri Mountain Railway as a extension to the World Heritage Site of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway.

The most haunted place in Kolkata. 

One of the oldest graveyards of Kolkata from 1767. There are more than 1600 graves, mostly British soldiers who died in India in isolation far away from their motherland. 
In their final hours, their death would not have been a quiet one. It is likely, they breathed their last with some unfulfilled desires.

Kechopalri- mystical lake in Sikkim

The Kechopalri or Kechupuri lake has a mythological story and is considered as a scared lake by Buddhists and Hindus.
